The Dialogue with Karen Rothwell
This feature is a question-and-answer session with a new Blount County Chamber member. So here we go with our 87th installment visiting with Karen Rothwell, COO/Director of Communications & Compliance for Well+Key Urgent Care which provides excellent medical care by physicians and staff in a convenient, efficient manner that highlights our commitment to outstanding health care and customer service.
Describe what Well+Key Urgent Care does. As a certified Level I urgent care center and a certified occupational health facility, Well+Key provides acute medical care seven days a week, 8am - 8pm to provide efficient services to patients and employers. We value our patients' time and make a commitment to ensure visit times average less than 60 minutes, door-to-door. By providing on site lab services and digital x-ray services, we can help most patients avoid high costs associated with the emergency room.
How did the physicians get started? The physician partners (Drs. Robin A. Huskey & J. Michael Rothwell - RothWELL & HusKEY) wanted to provide patients with quality healthcare and access directly to providers in a more customer service oriented environment.
What is the physicians background? The physician partners studied urgent care medicine and became members of the Urgent Care Association of America and filed for certification as a Level I facility. They also began the process to become certified as an occupational health facility with the National Association of Occupational Health Professionals. Through these efforts they ensure that all providers and staff receive the appropriate training to provide exceptional care and customer service as an urgent care facility and occupational health provider.
Describe your customers. Well+Key accepts most insurances and offers self-pay patients a discount on services.
How do outside environments impact you? Healthcare is changing significantly in our country. Many people no longer have a relationship with a primary care physician and therefore no direct access for care outside of emergencies. Well+Key is able to offer patients direct access to providers for minor injuries and illnesses to ensure that concerns patients may not have a resource to address don't become major health problems.
What do you enjoy about this business? The ability to help people and the impact good healthcare can cause in an individual's life when it is affordable.
