Mid East Tennessee Community Credit Union Merges with ORNL Federal Credit Union
The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) recently awarded ORNL Federal Credit Union (ORNL FCU) a merger with Mid East Tennessee Community Credit Union (MET CCU). MET CCU currently has branches located in Athens and Decatur, Tenn., a membership base of approximately 1,550, and $10.3 million in total assets. The merger was effective July 31, 2020. MET CCU is now ORNL FCU.
This merger expands ORNL FCU’s community charter to include Meigs, McMinn, and Rhea counties, which are all contiguous to the Credit Union’s current 16 county charter area. With the merger, ORNL FCU will also acquire the two MET CCU branches which will soon re-branded to reflect the ORNL FCU brand. Current MET CCU employees will also be retained.
After system conversions in August, current MET CCU members will have access to the full suite of mortgage and consumer loan products, deposit products, and digital services ORNL FCU offers. They will also have access to over 30,000 fee-free ATMs nationwide, as well as the 28 ORNL FCU branch offices located in East Tennessee.
