East Tennessee Purchasing Association to host second annual Diversity Business Expo

Small, minority, woman-owned and veteran-owned businesses interested in working with local governments can meet with representatives from 12 local agencies in one location at the East Tennessee Purchasing Association’s (ETPA) second annual Diversity Business Expo on Thursday, March 5.

The event will be held at Overcoming Believers Church, 211 Harriet Tubman St., from 8 a.m.-noon. Attendees can meet representatives who often make purchasing decisions that do not require formal bid processes, such as warehouse clerks, purchasing card (P-card) holders and those who prepare purchase requisitions.

“Many small, minority, woman-owned and veteran-owned businesses are not considered when agencies make small-dollar-threshold purchases,” said Pamela Cotham, assistant purchasing agent in the City of Knoxville’s Small Business and Diversity Outreach Office. “The goal of this networking event is to connect these small businesses with local government procurement representatives making purchases between $5 and $25,000, which can be significant for small businesses.”

Food and beverages from Perk City will be available for purchase.
