The Dialogue with Nina Akins
This feature is a question-and-answer session with a new Blount County Chamber member. So, here we go with our 154th installment visiting with Nina Akins, Mortgage Banker with Stockton Mortgage Corporation which creates pathways to home ownership with the values of honesty, respect, and integrity.
Describe what Stockton Mortgage Corporation does. Stockton Mortgage is here to open doors. We're here to make your mortgage process as easy, efficient and professional as possible and get you the home you've been dreaming about.
How did you get started? I started in 2002 answering phones for a mortgage company through a temporary employment agency.
What is your background? Everything was on the job training. I learned the business by starting at the beginning of the file as Set-up person, promoted to Loan Processor, which lead to Loan Officer Assistant and finally Loan Officer aka Mortgage Banker.
Describe your customers. Our customers come from all points in their life. New College Graduates that have their dream job and newlyweds buying their first dream home. Then you have the buyers purchasing a second home for vacations or investment. The retired buyer looking to downsize because the children are now adults and living their own lives.
What impacts the business environment you work in? While the financial health of borrowers affects how good an interest rate they can get, larger economic factors and government financial policy affect the whole mortgage rate universe. Below the financial credentials of a buoyant economy are a wealth of social and demographic factors which are also providing significant support for house prices. Such as Millennial's purchasing in suburbs rather in the middle of cities.
What do you enjoy about working at Stockton Mortgage Corporation? Helping people achieve their home buying goals, whatever they may be.
