Trentham Promoted to Alcoa Electric Director
The City of Alcoa announced the promotion of Ryan Trentham from Electric Assistant Director and Chief Engineer to Electric Director. He will assume that position on July 1, 2019.
Trentham, originally from Sevier County, began part-time work in 2003 for the Sevier County Electric System and continued with them as an Electric Engineer Intern while completing his electrical engineering degree from the University of Tennessee Knoxville (UT). At UT, Trentham’s concentration was in Power Systems and Power Electronics. While at UT he was project leader on the UT Zero Energy Solar House. Following his graduation in 2010, Trentham worked for Memphis Light, Gas and Water for six years as a Reliability/Power Quality Engineer. He then was a Lead System Engineer for Lenoir City Utilities Board for 3 ½ years. He began his position with the City of Alcoa in 2018. He obtained his Professional Engineering licensure (P.E.) in 2014. Ryan has a deep passion for this industry as he grew up around power utilities with his father having had 40 years of experience as a lineman.
Ryan and his wife, Brooke, live in Maryville with their two children, Jackson and Eliza. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family and mountain biking.
