First Tennessee names Rick Shepard to its Blount County Advisory Board
First Tennessee has named William R. (Rick) Shepard as a new member of its Blount County Advisory Board. Shepard is retired after a long and diverse banking career at several of the area’s leading financial institutions, including United Community Bank, SunTrust Bank, and the Bank of Maryville. He also is retired from the Tennessee Air National Guard after 21 years of service and a veteran of the Gulf War in 1991. Shepard is a graduate of East Tennessee State, Community College of the Air Force, Tennessee School of Banking, and LSU Graduate School of Banking.
Shepard is a fifth generation Blount County native and is very committed to serving the community in a variety of roles, including current and past involvements as Board member of Smoky Mountain Council Boy Scouts of America and District Chairman, United Way of Blount County Board Chairman in 2007 and Campaign Chairman in 2016, Board member of Secret Safe Place for Newborns, Alumni and Board Member and Board Chairman of Leadership Blount, Past Board Member and Board Chair of New Hope Children’s Advocacy Center, Board member and VIP Chair of Blount County Chamber of Commerce, Board Member and Treasurer of Blount County Education Foundation, Board member and President of East Tennessee American Cancer Society Leadership Council and Relay for Life Chairman.
