The Dialogue with Jackie S. Mills
This feature is a question-and-answer session with a new Blount County Chamber member. So, here we go with our 113th installment visiting with Jackie S. Mills of Jackie S. Mills Homes at Realty Executives Associates who sells anything with dirt under it.
How did you get started? I actually had a real estate license right out of high school. At that time, I did not put it to good use and ended up putting my license in inactive status. Once my husband decided he wanted to build two or three spec houses a year, we decided to re-activate my license and here I am still kickin' it.
What is your background? All one needs to do to become a Realtor is take the courses and take (pass) the state and national portions of the real estate exam. However, I have a degree and background in Marketing and Business Management of which I feel has helped me get to be successful in my career.
Who is your mentor? Our Real Estate Broker, Pat McGill, has been our biggest fan and cheerleader. My work mom, Donna Bailey keeps me focused and driven!
Describe your customers. Anyone who would like to buy or sell, residential, land, or small commercial real estate
Name three things you wish you knew when you started. 1. That I would eventually be working 7 days a week 12 or more hours a day. 2. A peaceful vacation is non-existent. 3. Always get a background check on your employees (;-)
What do you enjoy about being a realtor? Even though I seldom rest without thinking about all of our buyers and sellers, I would not change what I am doing! I sell Blount County which is the easiest thing to sell because of who we, as a community, are!
