Big Meadow Family Campground Wins National Award

It was announced at the annual National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC) awards banquet that Big Meadow Family Campground in Townsend, Tennessee, won the prestigious National Park of the Year Award (under 100 sites). This is the second time this park has received this distinction.

“We are thrilled to be recognized by the premier RV association in the country,” said Malcolm Johnson, co-owner at Big Meadow Family Campground. “It’s our passion and dream to provide the finest camping experience we can, and our loyal customer base supports this.”

Barbara Johnson, co-owner, added, “Based on our reviews on TripAdvisor, Yelp, Google and Facebook, our guests like everything about our campground. They specifically call out our helpful and personable staff, the cleanliness of the park, the attention to their needs, and our amenities.”

“Nominations for these awards are very detailed, and require facts about the operation, not just subjective information,” said Greg Johnson, also a co-owner. “The ARVC also does on-site evaluations and accepts customer feedback. It’s very exciting to be recognized this way.”

Donna Caskey, a frequent visitor to the campground, said, “Big Meadow is our home away from home. We’re down from Ohio for at least a few days most months and look forward to it. It’s simply the best campground we’ve stayed in, bar none.”

Big Meadow Family Campground is open year around and hosts many groups and events. They also support Great Smoky Mountain heritage, arts and crafts events annually.
