Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro to Host ‘Birthday Bash’ to Celebrate 3 Years Benefitting Second Harvest of East TN
On June 23, 2018, Townsend’s unique Dancing Bear Lodge and Appalachian Bistro will celebrate three years of re-creation and will host three guest chefs who will pair their culinary creations with Blackberry Farm Brewery for a “Birthday Bash” to commemorate the occasion. It may be the Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro’s “birthday,” but the gifts are all for the guests who attend.
Guest Chefs, Ryan Klein of Zambra in Asheville, Catherine Kline of Buxton Hall BBQ in Asheville, and Geoff Kenny from Cru Wine Bar & Nama Sushi in Knoxville will be in attendance for this special event. Each chef will have access to Dancing Bear’s new Appalachian smokehouse. These guest chefs will create some incredible flavors to pair with the Blackberry Farm brews. Don’t worry if the beer isn’t your favorite beverage, as there will be wine and specialty cocktails available as well!
These three excellent chefs join Executive Chef Shelley Cooper, who has been at the helm of Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro all three years, and who has been featured on the Travel Channel, the Cooking Channel, and has cooked around the world in her 20-year career. Her focus has always been on Southern comfort foods, and the Birthday Bash on June 23rd will be no exception! Her culinary creations combine the chef’s passion for creating bold, new flavor combinations by drawing on various ingredients and cooking styles she’s experienced during her global travels.
“What better way to celebrate three amazing years than with some of our favorite local chefs, fabulous regional food, exclusive beer pairings from Blackberry Farm, and live music?” asked Mark Oldham, Dancing Bear owner. He said $15 of each $95 ticket goes to the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee. Second Harvest will be able to provide 45 meals in East Tenn. with each ticket purchased.
Special Dinner Planned for June 23rd in Townsend TN
The event is scheduled for 6:00 pm-10:00 pm at the Bistro, its Event Center, it’s new outdoor Landing, outside Decks and Event Lawn, located at the Dancing Bear Lodge property, at 7140 Lamar Alexander Parkway in Townsend. Tickets may be purchased at DancingBearLodge.com or by calling (800) 369-0111.
The cause will celebrate the restaurant rising from the ashes of a fall 2013 chimney fire that destroyed its predecessor, the four-story Dancing Bear Lodge and Restaurant. Locals delighted when the Oldhams purchased the brand and committed to investing in a new structure as part of a major renovation of the Dancing Bear property, which has also included construction of a new Event Pavilion and improvements/additions of overnight accommodations. While the old restaurant was beloved by many in the Knoxville area, many have come to adopt Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro as their place to celebrate special occasions and enjoy roasting after-dinner s’mores around the fire pit.
