Living and working in the Smoky Mountains area means you get used to the peaks and lows of tourist seasons. They come for the beautiful summer weather, the spring flowers, the autumn leaves, the many festivals and events, the shops, attractions and just for the atmosphere and hospitality that makes the region such a treasure. There are all kinds of accommodations available, and one of them is Sweet Berries B&B in Maryville.

Luxurious and Yet Welcoming

Opened in 2010 by owners Louise and Darrell Johnson, it is a highly rated destination for those visiting for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the many amazing attractions in nearby Knoxville, or just to savor a truly romantic retreat in one of the lovely and private rooms.

With an emphasis on attentive services, the Johnsons “set the bar high” according to many of their guests who rave about the Inn. From the chilled water in the rooms to the cocoa by the fire, the many outdoor areas to sit and savor the views, the local knowledge Darrell shares when asked for recommendations by guests, and Louise’s super friendly hugs, they consistently wow everyone who comes for a visit.

All About Sweet Berries B&B

Nestled in the foothills, the Sweet Berries B&B sits on 11 private acres that the pair spend much time caring for. Some is forested, but one of Louise’s passions is her gardening and the landscaping only enhances the remarkable views of nearby Wells Valley.

Visitors love that they can so quickly reach Tellico Lake and the park where they savor days of hiking, fishing, and so much more. However, you don’t even have to leave the premises to enjoy the amazing landscape and experiences that eastern Tennessee always delivers. For example, ask Darrell to start an evening campfire and you can sit outside and savor the crackling warmth as you gaze up at the stars. Swing away an afternoon on one of the porch’s swings, forage to your heart’s content in the edible landscaping that Louise has so kindly provided (nibbling on fresh berries, crisp apples and delicious pears are just some of the pleasures that await). And, of course, you are welcome to stroll the grounds and explore the forested woodlands all around.

Yet, it is the morning meals that many rave about after they have enjoyed their stay. Breakfast is served bright and early at 8AM and includes an entrée along with berries (of course), hot beverages, juices and more. Tea and coffee are also available for the earliest risers in the lovely community great room. Why not sit and watch the day wake up from the second-floor deck. And when your day is through, Louise always has a little evening snack available along with a drink to put a perfect end to the day.

Whether looking for an accommodation for a first or tenth visit to the area, or as someone living in the region but eager to find a super romantic and luxurious getaway, the charming Sweet Berries Bed and Breakfast is a great choice.
